Milestones : 5th Month

I am now five-month old. Just when thought last month was the greatest, I am so wrong. But then, I can surely say this month will be more exciting than the previous. Why not, when I can already interact with people around me, when people fondly call me by my name, when I learn the concept of “hug”, and when I smile and laugh so easily. Above all, this month is a playtime month for me. I hope you’re here to be my playing buddy!

Anyways, here’s what to expect for babies of my age:

Your baby now realizes where sounds come from, and he’ll turn quickly toward a new one. One of the easiest ways to engage him is to jingle a set of keys. Wind chimes are great attention-getters, too.

Your baby may now be able to recognize his own name and understand that you’re speaking to him when you say it. You may notice that your little one turns his head when you call him or talk about him with others.

If you want to engage and entertain your baby, all you need to do is talk to him. At this age, babies don’t learn language from the television or radio, so turn them off and use real dialogue instead. A growing range of emotions

Your baby can’t express his emotions in the same complex way that you can. Although he can let you know in clear ways when he’s angry, bored, or happy, his ability to show love and humor are just developing.

Your baby also shows a strong attachment to you by raising his arms when he wants to be picked up and by crying when you leave the room. He may also give you hugs and kisses.

And he’s beginning to get the joke — he’ll laugh at funny expressions and try to make you laugh, too. Keep the laughter flowing with your silly faces!

Milestones : 4th Month

Hi everyone! I am four-month old now, and am expecting GREAT things. I call this a “MOUTHFUL” month. Aside from saying lots of words, I will be starting solid foods anytime soon. So that means I will gain more weight at the end of the month. Mom and Dad need not to worry for the additional weight though, since I will comfort them with my Da-da and Ma-ma words.

Here’s what to expect for babies of my age:

Researchers believe that your baby can now understand all the basic sounds that make up his native language. Between this time and 6 months of age, your baby will develop the ability to make some vocal sounds, which means you may hear the words you’ve been dreaming about, namely “ma-ma” or “da-da.” While child development experts say it’s too early for your baby to connect those sounds with you and your partner, that won’t make hearing them any less exciting.

You can encourage your baby’s attempts at communication by mirroring or imitating his expressions and sounds. He may try to imitate you now, too. Say “baa” and he may try to say it back.

Reacting when your baby makes noises or tries to say something will help your baby learn the importance of language. It’ll also help him better understand cause and effect. It’s great for his self-esteem, too. He’ll begin to realize that what he says makes a difference.

Milestones : 3rd Month

I am now on my third month! And things become more exciting. especially since I can already recognize faces and is more playful, smiley, and cuddly than before. Everyday is a play time with me this month, and I look forward to it.

To know more about what to expect from babies of my age, please read the article below:

Even though your baby has been able to recognize you since he was just a few days old, he may now be able to show it. About half of babies this age begin to exhibit an obvious recognition of their parents.

Most likely he’ll still smile at strangers, especially when they look him straight in the eye and coo or talk to him. But he’s beginning to sort out who’s who in his life, and he definitely prefers you, your partner, and a select few over others.

Your baby may quiet down and make eye contact with you, or he may search for you in a room and move his arms in excitement or smile when he finds you. He may even find your scent calming and comforting.

A big spurt is happening in your baby’s brain development that coincides with significant behavioral changes. Your baby is more attuned to the outside world and more sensitive to changes in his environment.

The part of the brain that governs hand-eye coordination and allows a baby to recognize objects is developing rapidly now. His hearing, language, and smell have also become more receptive and active. When your baby hears your voice these days, he may even look directly at you and start gurgling or trying to talk back.

Milestones : 2 months

I am two-months old now! And I can already start a conversation with my coos and lots of smiles. Here’s what to expect from babies of my age (click here to more):

Your baby can differentiate familiar voices from other sounds and is becoming a better listener. He also can show you that he’s in tune with his environment. Notice how he looks to see where certain noises are coming from.

An ongoing conversation (although still one-sided!) can help your baby develop his sense of place. He may even watch your mouth as you talk, fascinated by how it all works.

Milestones : 1st Month

Hi, I just turned one-month old today. And here’s what to expect for babies of my age (click here to learn more):

Your baby may gurgle, coo, grunt, and hum to express his feelings. A few babies also begin squealing and laughing. Be sure to coo and gurgle back, and talk to your baby face to face. He’ll enjoy holding your gaze now.

If you have things to do, your baby will still enjoy hearing your voice from across the room. And don’t feel silly about talking baby talk — babies are particularly attuned to this high-pitched, drawn-out way of communicating that can actually teach your baby about the structure and function of language.
